Katie — your words have stayed with me since I received this. I am so, so sorry to hear of your loss. This experience must have been gut wrenching. You are clearly a wonderful writer, and your way of describing this is so eloquent, so painful, so beautiful. I am not certain of very much in life but I do believe exactly what I wrote and you reaffirmed — that love never, ever dies. Ever.
